PHOENIX (AP) - Four men from Mexico have been arrested and more than 500 pounds of marijuana seized in southern Maricopa County.

County Sheriff's officials say the bust was made about 2:30 p.m. Thursday near the Barry Goldwater Air Force Range.

They say about 503 pounds of marijuana was seized and it has an estimated street value of about $453,000.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio stated, "My Deputies are in the process of determining where the marijuana was going to be sold, because in the near future my office will be cracking down on the street level dealers in the valley."

The four men, identified as Gerardo Alcaraz-Lara, Julio Cesar Martinez-Zuniga, Ernesto Rodriguez-Berrelleza and Jesus Rodriguez-Berrelleza, were booked into the 4th Avenue Jail on suspicion of drug smuggling.
