Multi-agency task force take down serial armed robbers

(WJBK) -

Two serial robbery suspects are in police custody after police caught them casing an auto parts store on 8 Mile in Detroit. The men were armed and terrorizing store employees and customers when a special task force already searching for them spotted their SUV.

Police from Southfield, Detroit, Oak Park, and the Michigan State Police arrested the two criminals linked to 14 armed robberies in Ferndale, Warren and Detroit.

The suspects led police on a short chase before making a run for it in Royal Oak Township. But it was only a matter of minutes before the criminals traded their gold chains for silver handcuffs.

"These violent individuals were committing these robberies armed with semi automatic weapons. They would not only rob the business, but they would also rob any patrons that were inside the store," says Commander Elvin Barren of the Detroit Police department.

Detroit police chief James Craig says this time of crime will not be tolerated, and every criminal will eventually suffer the same fate.

"They know that we are coming, they are concerned about it, and they know we are relentless in making a change in the city."
