BERKLEY, Mich. (WJBK) -

Whimsical gift gallery Catching Fireflies will be sending anonymous care packages in February to one hundred nominated recipients who could use a surprise smile.

Sending little presents to friends and family for Valentine's Day has been a tradition for gift gallery owner, April McCrumb. This year she is expanding her cupid arrow radius to include deserving people across Michigan. McCrumb is looking for nominees who had a hard holiday season, have health problems, lost someone special or just struggle to smile.

"We believe in warming up the cold gray days of February with unexpected pretty packages on door steps," says McCrumb.

To nominate someone for a cupid care package, send an email to service@catchingfireflies.com with the subject line title: CUPID CALL. Include the nominee's full name, age, mailing address and short paragraph on why they need a cupid call. It would also be helpful to know a little about the person and what they like. Nominator must include their full name and relationship to the nominee as well.

Package contents will vary depending on the age and preferences of the recipients but all the items will be selected from Catching Fireflies. Entries from the community will be accepted through February 5.

Pull out your smartphone on any given day, tap on Instagram and you'll find a lot of selfies. But while the rest of us clog our feeds with our best pouty faces, a group of photographers scales and then hangs off bridges and buildings in a contest to produce the most daring photograph in New York City.

Like most soon-to-be third graders, Sonja knows what she's looking for when it comes to back-to-school shopping. For kids trying to be fashionable -- and parents looking to keep it affordable -- there's the Ocean County Hunger Relief Warehouse in Toms River, New Jersey. It's basically a huge thrift shop.
