Tacony Food Market Robbery Caught On Surveillance

PHILADELPHIA -

Surveillance video captures a store clerk bravely fighting off a robber, and today, the Philadelphia Police Department needs the public's help in identifying the individual who robbed the Tacony Food Mart in Tacony.

On December 22, 2013, at 2:59 p.m., according to police, an employee of Tacony Food Mart located on the 6600 block of Torresdale Avenue was working inside when an unknown male entered the store and pointed a handgun at him to demand money. As surveillance shows, the employee began to comply with the suspect, but when the store employee began to struggle with the suspect, the suspect fled the store. He did not end up obtaining any money, according to police, and was last seen west on Unruh Avenue toward Marsden Street.

The suspect description, according to police analysis of surveillance: Hispanic male, light complected, 25-30 years-of-age, 5'6", 130 lbs., thin build, short hair, mustache, goatee, wearing blue jeans, white-hooded sweatshirt with a blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, and armed with a handgun.
