KANKAKEE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A south suburban Hazel Crest man was killed in a single vehicle semi crash early Saturday on Interstate 57 near milepost 31 in Kankakee County, Illinois State Police said.

The driver of the truck, Jeffery L. Foster, 49, of Hazel Crest, was killed in the crash, according to a release from state police.

The Kankakee County Coroner's office could not immediately be reached for comment on his death Saturday night.

Foster was driving northbound on I-57 when he lost control of the 2005 black Volvo semi-truck with attached trailer and struck the center median, the release said. The truck drove between a viaduct and fell to an area below the interstate, and the trailer landed on top of the truck tractor, the release said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by state police.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
