ASU political science major to "live tweet" during the State of the Union

PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

President Obama is scheduled to deliver his State of the Union address next week and a valley college student will be part of the event.

The White House has invited a select group of social media savvy people to "livetweet" the President's State of the Union address, including a political science student from ASU.

Days before the State of the Union address the White House posted this picture on Instagram and Twitter  giving us a glimpse of how the President is preparing.
Tuesday the White House will let a select group do the tweeting including Jordan Hibbs, an ASU student.

"It feels good definitely I'm committed to social media and I'm really interested in politics its a great way to be involved in something that I care a lot about " said Jordan Hibbs.

She has more than 16,000 followers. "They can tweet me questions that they want asked" said Hibbs.

In addition to live tweeting the President's State of the Union address Jordan will be able to ask senior White House staff questions about the President's vision and policies.

This is the second year in a row Jordan will be part of the social media event. She says thousands of people apply, but only about 100 are chosen based on their social media usage and profiles.

So what's the secret to being a successful tweeter? "Asking peoples opinions is really helpful because if you try to get other people involved in the conversation seems like people want to follow you and be more engaged so make it more about them" said Hibbs.

Jordan leaves for Washington D.C. Sunday morning.

If an iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts is part of your afternoon routine, expect a nudge to buy a cookie or doughnut you didn't plan on. Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
