Police investigate attempted abduction in Villa Rica

Posted: Updated:
VILLA RICA, Ga. -

A Villa Rica girl says a man tried to kidnap her while she was playing in her own backyard.

Tonya Lanham says her 5-year-old daughter was jumping on the family's new trampoline when a man came out of the woods, climbed onto that trampoline and then tried to pull the little girl off.

"There was a man grabbing my daughter, and he was dragging her kind of halfway on the trampoline and halfway off," Lanham said.

Lanham's mother ran outside and the man took off.

The girl wasn't harmed, but police are searching for the man.

"Right now we're trying to determine exactly what the intent of this individual is," said Deputy Brad Robinson of the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Carroll County Sheriff's Office at 770-830-5888.
