LANCASTER, Pa. -

A dog in Lancaster is looking for a new home after his owner died while the two were on a walk in the cold weather.

The dog's name is Chase. He's a yellow Labrador-mix.

He and his owner, 61-year-old Claudine Murphy, were taking a walk on Saturday, when Murphy collapsed in the snow. Chase, not on a lease, barked and tried to get attention from anybody who could happen to pass by. Unfortunately, in such cold weather, the chances of people walking by were sparse.

However, Chase persisted. Chase stayed by his owner's side for 30 hours, barking until he could barely bark anymore. Then, a neighbor heard the noise. After 30 hours, a neighbor heard the barks and found Chase and Murphy.

Unfortunately, it was too late, Murphy died of what appears to be hypothermia.

Now, the neighbor who found Murphy is looking for a good home for Chase.

She tells Lancaster Online that Chase's up to date on all of his shots, and is a very well behaved dog. Chase was previously rescued by Murphy nine years ago when he was living in substandard conditions at a shelter.

Update: Chase has a new home.
