Fireplace bars and restaurants in New York

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

This fireplace at the James Hotel is the pulse of the rooftop bar, one with panoramic views of the city. It's also one of the only ventless fireplaces in Manhattan. It's a fireplace so high tech it is powered by alcohol cartridges.

The creator is Arthur Lasky of Hearth Cabinet Fireplaces.

"Because it has no chimney or gas requirement or electricity you can also put it in your apartment," he says.

Farther uptown, the Jade Hotel has gas fireplaces in its lobby and restaurant, called Grape & Vine. General Manager Walter Brackett says it attracts clients, especially when temperatures take a tumble.

"On a cold winter day we have a fireplace to cozy up to with a warm cappuccino, a glass of champagne, a glass of wine in the afternoon, it's become our focal point," he says.

Cibar on Irving Place is another hot spot. The cozy underground hideaway has not one but two fireplaces.

The Chatwal Hotel in the Theatre District has a stunning fireplace in the restaurant.

These bars and hotels are open all year long, but in order to catch the fire you'll have to get here in the cold months.

Modern dancers, writhing half-naked in front of giant weather-themed video installations. Miley Cyrus, not twerking, but working — in a new gig making jewelry with children's beads. A guy mowing a fake indoor lawn in a suit, top hat and fishnet tights. We didn't need to tell you that Fashion Week isn't only about hemlines and tailoring, did we?
