16-year-old girl missing from Ashburn found safe

A 16-year-old girl who went missing on Jan. 18 from the South Side Ashburn neighborhood has been located and returned to her family.

Taneice Warren, nicknamed "Neicy," had been missing from the 3600 block of West 84th Place for 10 days, according to a missing person alert from Area Central detectives.

Police did not offer details of her whereabouts while missing, nor did they offer details about how she was found. But she has been reunited with her family safely.

Warren is described as a 5-foot-6, 135-pound black teen with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. She has heart tattoos on both wrists. Warren may be wearing a black jacket and either a purple and blue hat or a pink North Face knit cap, with a pink shoulder bag.

Police said she frequents the area between 87th and 93rd streets near Halsted.

    A Stonington man has been charged with cruelty to animals after police say he shot his girlfriend's pet turtle. Steven Richard, 31, reportedly used a BB gun to shoot the turtle in the head Friday night outside a home on Pawtucket Avenue. Police responded to the home just after 8 p.m. when a neighbor reported an argument between Richard and the woman who lives there.
