Local Italian Greyhound Sharpie to compete in Puppy Bowl X!

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

We all know Super Bowl XLVIII takes place on Feb. 2. But there is another very cool event taking place the same day – Puppy Bowl X - and local Italian Greyhound Sharpie is competing!

Sharpie's owner, Laura Van Der Snick, and her daughter Mackenzie joined Good Day Chicago Friday morning to share just how excited they are for their pup, and how glad they are that he's in the family.

Laura and Mackenzie were looking for a companion that would pair well with the Italian Greyhound mix that was already part of their family. Laura did a simple search online and stumbled upon ROMP Rescue.

ROMP's Jennifer Lynn also joined Good Day Chicago, to explain how this local organization helps find good homes for dogs that need them.

Animal Planet's annual Puppy Bowl is always a good time. But now that Sharpie is participating, viewers have a hometown favorite to root for!

Looks like this pup's dreams are coming true. Maybe one day he'll be able to meet Chicago Blackhawk Patrick Sharp!
