Georgia State edges Arkansas State in 73-72 win

Posted: Updated:

ATLANTA (AP) - R.J. Hunter scored 23 points, including the game-winning jumper in the final seconds, to lift Georgia State to a 73-72 win over Arkansas State on Thursday night.

The Panthers (11-6, 4-0 Sun Belt Conference) had to quell an Arkansas State rally in the second half to win their eighth straight and remain unbeaten after four conference games for the first time in school history.

Devonta White contributed 15 points, Ryan Harrow added 11 and Manny Atkins had 10 for Georgia State, which shot 48 percent from the field.

Arkansas State (10-6, 3-2) overcame a nine point halftime deficit with a 19-6 run midway through the second half, and led by as many as seven with four minutes to go, but Georgia State stormed back and sealed the win on Hunter's jumper with three seconds left.

Kirk Van Slyke led the Red Wolves with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
