AVONDALE, Ariz. -

An 11 year-old girl is at a valley hospital after she was accidentally shot by her own father at their Avondale home.

Police responded to the home near Dysart & Indian School after 2:45 p.m. Thursday. Authorities believe that the father was cleaning his gun when the gun discharged. The bullet traveled through a couple walls striking the girl.

Neighbors were upset to hear the news of the shooting, "I think it's awful, you know it's common sense you know... let alone cleaning your gun that's loaded but cleaning it in the presence of your children it's pretty stupid" said Dominique Rossi.

Paramedics took the girl to Phoenix Children's Hospital with a gunshot wound to her leg. She is expected to be ok.

Avondale Police were seen removing a rifle and other firearms from the home. It is unclear whether the girls father will face any charges.

A dance party for kids and tweens looks like a rave or perhaps a wild night at the club. But actually, many of the people at this party probably just learned how to tie their shoes. Twin brothers Tyler and Tristin recently had a FUZIPOP party in Manhattan to celebrate their 10th birthday. Never heard of a FUZIPOP party?

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and the federal prosecutor investigating political payback allegations involving the Republican's administration are both set to speak at a prisoner re-entry conference on Thursday.
Former NBA player Jayson Williams says trying to re-enter society after serving time for shooting a limousine driver was more difficult than being in prison.
