MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. (Associated Press) -

The Republican gubernatorial race has taken on a combative tone as candidates at a forum took jabs over allegations of campaign donations, clout and flip-flopping stances.

Much of it focused on businessman Bruce Rauner who's vastly outraised the other three candidates. They are Illinois Treasurer Dan Rutherford and state Sens. Kirk Dillard and Bill Brady.

Brady brought up Rauner's changed stance on minimum wage. The venture capitalist said last month that he'd advocate for lowering it to the national rate then said that he'd support raising it under the right circumstances.

Dillard remarked he was glad Rauner could attend.

It's the first debate in 2014 where all four have participated.

Rauner says the debate was akin to a "beat up Bruce" hour. He says it shows he's ahead.
