The most recent non-fatal shooting happened Wednesday night, critically wounding a teenage boy and injuring a man in the Lower West Side neighborhood.

About 9:20 p.m., a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old man were walking in the 2300 block of West Cullerton Street when someone inside a vehicle drove by and fired shots at them, police said.

The boy was shot in his chest and abdomen and was in critical condition at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said. The 19-year-old man was shot in his right elbow and was also at Stroger in "stable" condition, police said.

Hours earlier, a man was seriously wounded in the South Side Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The 20-year-old man was shot in the chest about 3:45 p.m. in the 7600 block of South Wolcott Avenue, police said. He was taken to Stroger, where he was listed in serious condition, police said.
