16 Year Old Charged With Attempted Rape Of Lansdale Woman

Posted: Updated:

Herson Guardado is the 16-year-old who police say is charged as an adult with the attempted rape of a 25-year-old Lansdale woman.

"It's surprising and it's scary. I've been there with my daughter to that park," said Rachelle Seasholtz about where it happened.

Police say was around 4:45 Monday afternoon at Stoney Creek Park on East Hancock Street. The victim told police she was putting her three young children in the car as they were preparing to leave the park when the suspect came up behind her. Police say Guardado put one arm around the woman's neck, put a knife to her side and forced her to leave her children to walk to a wooded area.

"It's sickening. You have three children with you and someone is going to do that to somebody. You need some punishment," said Patricia Brown when she heard about what happened.

Police say the suspect was wearing a mask. The woman was able to break free and the suspect took off running. Police on the lookout caught him on the Upper Gwynedd side leaving the woods. They say he had a small amount of marijuana and a pipe on him. They say they also found a knife on the suspect. Police say Guardado is from El Salvador and that Immigration and Customs Enforcement is involved in the investigation. Lansdale Police filed charges against the 16-year-old in adult court.

"I have a nine year old son at home and it's just sickening how this town is. It's unsafe," said Jill Carty.

Guardado did not post bail which was set at $100,00. He is being held at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 27th.
