Arrest in connection with East Village rape

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the rape of a woman in the East Village early Monday morning.

Police say that Fermin Flores, 32, of Manhattan, faces rape, burglary, criminal sex act and strangulation charges.

The 22-year-old victim was walking into her apartment on East 7th St. in Manhattan when the attacker pushed her inside and sexually assaulted her.

The violent attack happened at about 3:30 a.m.

Surveillance cameras caught the man walking in the area and the video was released by the NYPD.  Flores was picked up hours later and arrested after questioning.
