As always, the auto show is Detroit's time to shine. More than five thousand reporters and photographers come to the event to write, blog, tweet and broadcast about the cars in our city.

Fox 2's Robin Schwartz was there during day one of the media preview. She got some first impressions from the international media.

She spoke with a cameraman from a much-different Channel 2 in Dubai and Beirut who said his viewers are hoping Detroit will emerge from bankruptcy and rebound.

A reporter from Japan says he admires Detroit's design and ingenuity.

Juilber Higaka from Brazil says Brazilians are most excited about the new Mustang, and really wish they had it in their country.

Everyone Fox 2 spoke to, no matter where they were from, had good things to say about this year's auto show and seemed to be pulling for Detroit to shine, as it should.
