No matter where you live potholes seem to be the story of the day, damaging your cars and causing big-time traffic delays. Auto repair shops have also certainly seen an increase in pothole-related damages.

"We've been really busy. We have nine cars today from potholes," says Vashon Price from Belle Tire on 12 Mile and Telegraph roads. The auto care store was so busy they were actually running out of tires on Monday.

"This Cadillac here needs four tires. It's a 20-inch tire; that's not a common size so we only get so many tires a day," Price explains.

A spokeswoman for Michigan's Department of Transportation says they've received several calls reporting potholes, but if you're asking to get them fixed you might not like what she has to say.

"The real answer is we've got to get funding from Lansing. We are down by 100 million dollars in the last 10 years for what we need for our roadways," says Diane Cross. "It was just last week that we had a foot of snow in metro Detroit. We had at least there days of sub-zero, freezing weather, and all of that allowed cracks in our roadway, water to get in, freezing temperatures, it expands, it breaks through the roadway - we get a pothole."
