PHOENIX (KSAZ) -

41 year-old Johnny Bonnie sentenced to 10 1/2 years in prison and seven years probation Friday. While he serves his time his victims will continue living out their own life sentence.

"We were your typical family and he, Johnny Bonnie, ruined that for us." said Chance Molzan.

14 year-old Chance Molzan watched her mother slip away. After this crash Chance was rushed to the Phoenix Children's Hospital emergency room while rapidly losing blood. Her mother suffered inoperable brain trauma and spent days in a coma.

"After she came out of the coma she didn't know where she was, who she was, she was at thirty seconds of memory at best" said Bo Molzan, Chance's father.

Bo Molzan proudly calls his wife Marci a soccer mom and a best friend. Now she's permanently disabled suffering with confusion and anger.

"Very withdrawn, would rather hide in a bedroom, doesn't do well with people anymore... doesn't communicate well... definitely doesn't do well in groups or go to a grocery store... she doesn't work" said Bo Molzan.

Bo now raises his four children like a single parent. His income goes to thousands in medical bills because Johnny Bonnie had no automobile insurance. Chance dreamed of getting a scholarship for playing sports.

"I cannot run... I cannot skip... I can't dance... I can't really do anything except walk." said Chance.

The Molzan's hope others learn from this mans mistake.

"I want people to realize that even if you had one or two beers, or a glass of wine, it can still affect you, it can still hurt you, and I don't want anyone else going through what I went through" said Chance.

The Molzan's now use social media to spread awareness about drinking and driving. Chance and her father also speak on behalf of Phoenix Children's Hospital because they're trying to raise funds to expand the same trauma room where Chance's life was saved.
