Georgia Tech's Carter may miss remainder of season

ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory says there is only a "very slight possibility" Robert Carter Jr. will return from knee surgery this season.

Carter, who shares the Atlantic Coast Conference lead in rebounds, had surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. Carter's injury leaves Georgia Tech short-handed on its front line as it attempts to regroup after losing its first two ACC games.

Senior Kammeon Holsey has replaced Carter as the starting power forward.

Gregory said Thursday Carter will be evaluated over the next three weeks to determine his chances of returning this season. The coach said the priority will be to protect Carter's future.

Georgia Tech, coming off losses at Maryland and Duke, will play its ACC home opener against Notre Dame on Saturday.
