$15,000 given to wife of wounded AZ posse member

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - A charity run by one of Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's posse members has given $15,000 to the family of a posse member critically injured during a robbery.

Arpaio presented a check Wednesday afternoon to the wife of 63-year-old Phillip Grigg.

Grigg was shot Dec. 31 while trying to help a Phoenix police officer stop a suspect in the east Phoenix robbery of two strip club employees.

Grigg has since undergone multiple surgeries.

He and Officer Scott Sefranka, who was also wounded, remain hospitalized in critical condition.

Authorities arrested three men, who face charges ranging from armed robbery to attempted murder.

The money comes from an Arpaio posse that consists of business people who raise money for the families of officers killed in the line of duty.
