Some Detroit residents still waiting for street to be plowed

Some Detroit residents still have yet to see a plowed street after the weekend's heavy snowfall, even though Mayor Mike Duggan said Tuesday that all residential streets have been cleared.

"I think, they think, because there's one house on this block - forget us, you know. So, we [are] getting stuck a whole lot," says Dennis Hogan. He lives on a block on the city's west side where all of the houses are abandoned except his.

"At that corner is the worst. We got stuck over six or seven times yesterday - on this block. We tried to go around on the next block and go through, we got stuck on their blocks!" he tells Fox 2's Maurielle Lue.

Mayor Mike Duggan's team acknowledge the new mayor was incorrectly updated Tuesday when he said on camera that "all residential streets have been plowed in the city of Detroit as of right now." In a statement, Duggan renewed his promise saying:

"Mike Duggan is committed to creating the expectation among city workers and residents that every residential street be plowed within 24 hours after six inches of snow has fallen."

After talking to Fox 2, Duggan's team says they have people out inspecting contractor's work and they will not be paid until the city is satisfied the work is complete.

If an iced coffee from Dunkin' Donuts is part of your afternoon routine, expect a nudge to buy a cookie or doughnut you didn't plan on. Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis said in a phone interview Thursday that the company is pushing to get its cashiers to "upsell" to afternoon customers. It's part of an effort to increase sales after stores have emptied out after the morning rush.
