Dennis Rodman takes heat for comments made in CNN interview

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

America may not have diplomatic relations with North Korea, but Dennis Rodman does.

And on Wednesday night he was in North Korea, with a special message for North Korea's leader, who he calls his "best friend."

Kim Jong Un is said to have just turned 31, and Rodman gave him a special gift – he sang "Happy Birthday."

He also brought a group of other former NBA players for an exhibition game with a North Korean team.

Back in the states, he's getting blasted for it.

Many say he's a joke, but others say his visits are harmful because he ends up spreading falsely positive propaganda about Un.

North Korea is known for a poor record on human rights and for making nuclear threats.

It's also where an American, Kenneth Bae, is being held captive in a labor camp for, quote, "anti-state crimes."

Rodman blew up at an anchor for CNN who questioned why he's not pushing for Bae's release.

However, if the United States is stressing at all about North Korea, it has nothing to do with Rodman's trip.
