Good Day Cafe: raw made easy

MYFOXNY.COM - Eating raw food is more than a diet fad for author Brad Gruno. He was first introduced to raw eating by a aunt.

In three months, he lost 40 lbs.

Gruno shares one of his favorite raw food recipes, chocolate mousse pie, with Good Day.

Chocolate Mousse Pie

Crust:

1 cup almonds, soaked overnight and drained

1 cup pitted dates

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Mousse:

1 cup room temperature coconut oil

1/2 cup raw cacao butter

1 ripe avocado, peeled and pitted

1/2 cup raw cacao powder

1/2 cup raw honey

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Mint Sauce:

1/2 cup coconut milk

4-6 fresh mint leaves

1/2 tablespoon raw honey

Suggested Topping:

2 cups raspberries

Make the crust:

Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until well incorporated. Press mixture into an even layer in a 9-inch pie plate. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Make the Mousse:

Place all ingredients in a food processor and pulse until smooth. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and return it to the refrigerator. Refrigerate overnight.

Make the Mint Sauce:

Place all ingredients in a blender and purée until smooth.

Finish and Topping:

Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator. Evenly pour the mousse filling into the pie crust. Pour the mint sauce evenly over the top, arrange the raspberries in a lovely pattern , and chill for at least 4 hour. Slice and enjoy!

The comedian and TV host was undergoing an outpatient procedure at a clinic on the Upper East Side on Thursday when she went into cardiac arrest. Rivers reportedly stopped breathing during the throat procedure.
