WEST HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - West Haven police have identified a man who died after being shot outside a bar during a melee so big that officers from other towns were called in to help.

Authorities say 23-year-old Jaymar Spain of West Haven died at a hospital Sunday morning. Police say he may have been involved in a fight that began in a bathroom at the Lager House Bar and Grille and continued outside.

Officers responded to several 911 calls at about 2 a.m. Sunday and arrived at a chaotic scene outside the bar.

Officers say many people were fighting outside the bar when they arrived. Police from Milford, Orange and state police responded to the scene.

Police say numerous people refused to cooperate with authorities.

No arrests were announced.
