Posted: Updated:

Tempe Police want to find the driver of an SUV involved in a hit and run accident in Tempe on Friday.

Officers say a 24-year-old man on a skateboard was trying to cross University Drive on Ash Avenue on Friday afternoon when an SUV, believed to be a silver or gray Nissan X-Terra, crashed into the skateboarder.  The driver of the SUV fled the area heading south in the area of Farmer Avenue from University Drive.

Tempe Police officers have released a photo of the vehicle as it fled the scene.

The victim is suffering from life-threatening injuries and medics are treating him at a nearby hospital.

The suspect is described as a white man in his early twenties with bushy brown shoulder length hair and a hair comb or pick stuck in it.  There may have been a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the crash as well.

If you have any information about this hit and run accident, Tempe Police are asking you to call 480-350-8311 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
