CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

2013 has been a busy year for the FBI in the hunt for dangerous criminals, bank robbers and elusive fugitives.

As we wind down 2013, here is a look back at how viewers of Chicago's Most Wanted have helped the FBI find people suspected of crimes.

Agents we were able to capture eight "wanted" individuals as a direct result of tips from viewers who either saw the story on a Fox 32 Newscast or on MyFoxChicago.com.

Perhaps one of the most significant arrests was a man who was indicted in a racketeering conspiracy involving a series of murders, and whose capture involved a bit of drama earlier in 2013 in Wisconsin.

Paris Poe's case was featured in April. At that time, Poe was sought on a federal charge of fleeing to avoid confinement because he had violated his parole. Agents also wanted to find him to question him in connection with a federal murder investigation. A tip that Poe was in Madison, Wisconsin led to a search there and subsequently to his arrest. Later in the year, Poe was indicted as part of an investigation into one of Chicago's more violent street gangs, a group known as the Hobos. Poe and eight other people were charged in a RICO indictment, suspected in five murders and the solicitation of a sixth, along with four attempted murders between 2006 and 2009.

Another case involved a man the FBI considers the most prolific bank robbery cases it's seen in years.

This was the bank robber dubbed the "Ray-Bandit" because of the sunglasses he wore during his holdups. Jeremy Evans was arrested on January 15th of this year after a bank robbery in Elgin. It was the last of a string of 17 robberies that agents say netted Evans $75,000. The alleged crime spree started in July 2012 and involved holdups at banks in Illinois, California, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin and Virginia.

The arrest of Evans came after alert police officers spotted the car that witnesses saw driving away from the Elgin bank robbery. This was a significant arrest because of the number of bank robberies involved and that the robberies involved threats of the use of a gun and a bomb.

In April, CMW profiled Ken Blackman -- who is alleged to be a member of the Black Disciples street gang. Blackman was charged in a federal criminal complaint with being a felon in possession of a handgun. Agents say he was part of a drug and weapons trafficking network that operated primarily in the Altgeld Gardens area of Chicago's south side. The day after his case aired, he was arrested in Gary, Indiana, based on a viewer tip.

In May, the day after the Chicago's Most Wanted segment aired on Jimmie Sessoms, Chicago Police arrested him based on a viewer tip. Sessoms was charged in connection with Operation Heroin Hotline, which targeted people involved in selling drugs on Chicago's near west side.

Another Chicago's Most Wanted case was Roco Cervantez, who was also wanted on drug charges. He was arrested two days after his story aired. He turned himself in, agents say, after pressure from friends who saw the segment and urged him to do so.

Another alleged bank robber was identified based on a viewer tip. Antoine Jennings is believed to be responsible for three bank robberies in Zion and Waukegan in November and December of 2012. He did not disguise his face and agents say that made it easy for someone who knew him to make the identification. The arrest was made in January of 2013.

Tips also lead to the arrest of alleged gun trafficker Samuel Nunez who was featured in August, and located in Mexico in November.

Another suspected arrested is Sergio Mendoza, was wanted for shooting a man on Chicago's south side 2005. His case was profiled in 2010 and a tip helped agents locate him in Mexico. He has since been extradited to face the charges.

Another tip helped agents make an arrest in an even older case. Raul Tolentina was profiled in February 2013 and a subsequent tip helped agents locate him in Mexico as well. He was wanted in the murder of a nursing student in Chicago in 2000. He has been extradited to face the charges.

FBI Assistant Special Agent In Charge Matt Desarno thanks Fox 32 viewers for helping in the successes that the FBI has had in 2013 in making arrests.

There are a number of outstanding cases involving fugitives the FBI still needs help locating. Agents ask that viewers look at these cases and contact them, or local police with any relevant information.
