Man Dying Of Cancer Says Final Goodbye To His Dog

Beverly, MA -

(FOX 11) One picture is worth a thousand words. One great picture is worth a million hits. This story is beyond sad...and yet so touching and real. A young Massachusetts man, Mike Petrosino, is only 21 years old and dying of cancer.

Doctors have given him only a few more days. The man was given permission to say goodbye in his hospital room...to his beloved dog, Rusty.

This picture, taken last Friday by Mike's brother. A friend who was also there posted the picture on Reddit, saying of his buddy:  "My friend Mike was diagnosed with cancer in the 8th grade. He was given a 3% chance to survive the first year. Two days ago we found out that after 8 years, the amputation of his leg, and four rounds of cancer that there's now nothing that they can do. This picture was taken by his brother yesterday. I just got back from Mass General and got to say goodbye with a bunch of old friends. He's the bravest guy I've ever met and all he did the entire day was make sure everyone else was okay."

This year, he developed a form of cancer, called Rhabdomyosarcoma. Doctors have told him that there is nothing left they can do to treat him.

In an update on Reddit, his friend said he was happy about all of the positive response. "I'll be spending all day conveying everyone's kind words to his family."
