Brawls over Air Jordans

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - The release of the latest Nike Air Jordan sneaker brought out throngs of crowds across the country and several brawls broke out, too.

Video making the rounds online taken at a shoe store in Stockton, California, shows various fist fights erupting, apparently over the Gamma Blue 11s.

Tempers wore thin after some shoppers waited hours for a chance to buy a pair. The sneakers went on sale on Friday night.

Another fight reportedly broke out outside a Foot Locker on E. 151st St. in the Bronx between a group of women.

"It was two lines. It was kids and adults. The adults were a little crazy," said Miyah Rogers, 11, of Queens who purchased her Air Jordans in Harlem.

She was given a ticket to come back at a later date to purchase the in-demand sneakers.

Rogers' mother, Glenda Irby, said she paid $185 for the new kicks.

"I tried them on. They're very comfortable," said the retail manager.

The Jordan 11s are the most popular line of Jordans.

Everyone hates long lines at security checkpoints and the TSA knows it. Now the TSA is sponsoring a contest to encourage anyone with new ideas about how to make the airport security lines go faster. Often for air travelers, the security checkpoint experience is the worst part of their trip. That's why the TSA turned to the crowdsourcing site Innocentive asking for ideas pledging a total of $15,000 in prize money, with at least one $5,000 award.
