Student Robbed At Gunpoint Inside Philly School

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

A lockdown has been lifted but a search for three suspects continues after an armed robbery inside the Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School in Philadelphia's Kensington section.

SkyFOX was live over the school located on the 3100 block of Frankford Avenue.

It was placed on lockdown Friday afternoon after police say students robbed another student at gunpoint.

FOX 29's Thalia Perez reported form the scene that they are searching for three suspects. At least one of them was masked and armed when they entered the school. Surveillance video is being reviewed to determine the point of entry.

A school spokesman said this all happened during dismissal around 3 p.m., when the metal detectors are not in use. That's how they were able to bypass security and bring in the weapon. There are surveillance cameras everywhere in the school and outside, and they are very small and discreet. The robbery and confrontation took place in a hallway.

FOX 29 spoke to Chief Inspector Carl Holmes, who said they have identified two of the three male suspects.

We're told that police are searching for the suspects, and so far no arrests have been made, Perez reported.
