NAPERVILLE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are offering a $1,000 reward for information about an armed robber who held up a man walking his dog late last month in west suburban Naperville.

The victim was walking his dog in the 600 block of Porter Avenue about 5:50 p.m. Nov. 30 when the male suspect asked him for directions, a statement from police said.

After getting directions, the suspect pulled out a black semiautomatic handgun and demanded the man's cell phone and cash, police said.

The suspect was not able to get anything, however, and walked away. Police searched the area, but could not find him.

Shown in a sketch released by police, the suspect was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans and dark gym shoes, police said.

Anyone with information should call Naperville police or Crime Stoppers. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and are eligible for the $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
