Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan names his cabinet

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT (WJBK) -

Many have questioned how much power mayor-elect Mike Duggan would actually have under Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr. It appears the two have come up with an agreement where Duggan will actually have a lot of power when it comes to the operations of the city. Duggan has also already established a cabinet.

Sources tell Fox 2's Alexis Wiley who will be on Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan's cabinet:

Lisa Howze, Chief Of Staff
Ike McKinnon, Deputy Mayor
Butch Hollowell, Corporate Counsel
Charlie Beckham, Oversee Department Of Neighborhoods
Gary Brown, Will Remain In Operations, currently part of EM Kevyn Orr's office
John Hill, Chief Financial Officer

Duggan will take office in January while Orr remains in power. Sources also say the newly-elected mayor will take over key aspects of Detroit's operations, including economic development, blight authority and he'll restructure the fire department and choose the next fire commissioner. We're told anything dealing with bankruptcy and the Detroit Police Department will stay under the authority of Orr.

Duggan's team would not comment on any of this to Alexis. Meanwhile, she reports an official announcement is coming soon.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is holding its monthly board meeting, two days after it heard from a panel on what it needs to do to improve its accountability and efficiency and restore public trust.
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could rescind a $1-a-year lease for a park-and-ride lot near the Lincoln Tunnel. The agency's chief of real estate and development told a committee Wednesday that it should change a deal made in 2012. Published reports have alleged that former Port Authority chairman David Samson voted to approve the lease even though his law firm did business with New Jersey Transit, which operates the park-and-ride lot.
