For all you cat lovers out there, brace yourselves. It's a dog-eat-dog world, and an English college professor is about to break some bad news. We won't say your cat hates you. It is worse. Professor Daniel Mills, in his yet to be published study, says your cat doesn't really care about you at all.

New York City animal expert Andrea Arden elaborated.

"Cats are essentially self-domesticated," she said. "They chose to be near us because when we started storing grain they found easy food: rodents."

Cats, according to the study, have an anxious avoidant attachment style. That means they don't really care if their owners are present.

Dogs are completely the opposite. The study suggests they love you the way parents love their children.

Maybe a hamster is the way to go.
