NJ school administrator accused of selling drugs

Posted: Updated:

BOUND BROOK, N.J. (AP) - An assistant vice principal at a central New Jersey elementary school resigned one day before state troopers accused him of selling drugs from his home.

Authorities charged John Norton, 33, of Bound Brook with possession and distribution of controlled dangerous substances.

Troopers say they recovered crystal methamphetamine and GHB from his home valued at about $15,000. They also say they found an unresponsive man who was suffering from a possible drug overdose.

The Courier News of Bridgewater reports Norton earned $98,000 a year as vice principal of Elizabeth Avenue School in Franklin Township. The school superintendent issued a statement saying Norton notified the district he was resigning before the arrest took place on Monday.

It's not clear whether Norton has an attorney.
