Gaming Commission raids 2 Glendale poker rooms - New York News

5 poker clubs raided; nearly $5,000 in cash seized

Posted: Updated:

PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities are investigating alleged illegal gambling at five locations around the Phoenix metropolitan area.

The Arizona Department of Gaming, Maricopa County Attorney's Office, Phoenix police, state Department of Public Safety and Glendale police all served simultaneous warrants Thursday.

Authorities seized 11 poker tables and other gambling materials, thousands of poker chips, several televisions and surveillance equipment, computers, records and nearly $5,000 in cash.

They say evidence suggests possible violations including possession of gambling devices, benefiting from gambling, promotion of gambling and possession of gambling records.

Two of the locations are in Phoenix, two others in Glendale and one in Avondale.

Authorities say their investigation is ongoing and two people have been arrested on unrelated charges.
