Remembering Nelson Mandela

Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Former South African President Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday. Mandela became president in 1994, after spending 27 years in prison. He is credited with being the man that wiped out Apartheid in South Africa.

A lot of politicians across the state of New Jersey have been chiming in on the sad passing. Senator Cory Booker took to Twitter, saying that “Humanity has lost one of our greatest. RIP Nelson Mandela. Thank you for teaching us a deeper meaning of love, leadership, and sacrifice.”

Chairman of the NAACP Board of Directors Chairman, Roslyn Brock said, “The Honorable Nelson Mandela embodied the hopes, dreams, aspirations, and values of all who seek justice against tremendous odds. He responded to unfathomable violence with peace and courage and in doing so he changed the world.”
