CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Police are warning Austin neighborhood residents of two men who attempted to abduct a young girl Tuesday afternoon.

The 10-year-old girl was walking in the 5200 block of West Van Buren Street about 3:50 p.m. when two men in a van, which was parked in an alley, started to talk to her, according to a community alert issued by Area North detectives.

Police said the passenger in the van asked, "Do you want to come in the van and eat lots and lots of ice cream?" The girl said no, and kept walking. The passenger then asked the question again, and the driver said to her, "Don't make this a problem."

Police describe the van as green and white with no side windows, and "Tacos" written on the side.

The driver was described as a 35-45-year-old Hispanic man with dark hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The passenger was 33-36-year-old Hispanic man with reddish brown hair, moustache, and three tear drops below his eye. He was wearing a long-sleeved white polo shirt.

Anyone with information should contact detectives at (312) 744-8200 or submit anonymous tips at TIPSOFT.com.
