HOMEWOOD, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Three people have been taken into custody following a standoff after a bank heist Wednesday morning in south suburban Homewood.

Two armed people entered the Bank of America branch at 18460 Governors Highway at 10:30 a.m. and announced a robbery, according to FBI spokeswoman Joan Hyde. The robbers obtained cash from the bank employees and fled on foot.

No one was injured during the robbery, Hyde said.

A few minutes after the robbery, Homewood police took into custody one person believed to have been involved, and authorities began searching for the others, Hyde said.

About 2:30 p.m., two people who are believed to be the bank robbers were taken into custody in the parking lot of an apartment complex near the bank, Hyde said. Earlier at least 30 squad cars and FBI vehicles were on the scene.

During the standoff, a SWAT team arrived and several law enforcement officers had their weapons out. Several SWAT team members were seen running up Aida Court north of 183rd Street, the Southtown Star reported.

Parker Junior High School, at 2810 School St. in Flossmoor, was on lockdown, with no one allowed to enter or leave the building, a school official said. It wasn't clear whether other Flossmoor School District 161 schools also were on lockdown. District officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

Homewood-Flossmoor High School also had been on lockdown but had been given the "all clear" as of 1 p.m.

Charges are pending against the suspects, Hyde said.
