Family receives new home from Operation Homefront

MARIETTA, Ga. -

A local military family is getting a brand new home just in time for Christmas. It is all thanks to Operation Homefront, an effort to help those that have served in the military and even were wounded, to get what they need most: A mortgage-free home.

Former Navy corpsman Deramichelous Daniels and his family saw their brand new home for the very first time on Tuesday. The mortgage-free home is a gift made possible by Operation Homefront, Home Depot and Wells Fargo.

The former Navy combat medic served in Iraq. He and his family have not had the best of luck since leaving the military.

"We had an apartment and somebody broke in and took valuables, took jewelry that belonged to my mother. Jewelry that belonged to her aunt, rambled thru the house, took a lot of important stuff we didn't feel safe there," says Daniels.

The gift was so overwhelming it brought tears of joy. The family is thankful for their new life and thankful for the people who made it possible.

The family says it has always been their dream to own a home of their own and each is already laying stake to their favorite part of the house.

The Daniels will move into their house on Saturday. They say they are looking forward to decorating the house, putting up a Christmas Tree and settling in for their very first Christmas in their new home.
