Holidays: A time to whine and complain?

Posted: Updated:
MYFOXNY.COM -

It's the most wonderful time of the year -- or is it? With the holidays come the gripes.

Scenes like one from a Walmart on Black Friday may be at the extreme end of the spectrum. But plenty of people say other people's manners or lack thereof is a big holiday peeve.

Pushing and shoving is just one on a long list of things people find annoying at the holidays.

Also on the list: oversharing all those holiday moments with your friends.

I turned to Twitter and Facebook to ask some of my followers what annoys them most over the holidays. No surprise I got a lot of responses. Among my favorites: tasteless Christmas cookies and Christmas songs are played over and over and over.

Grandma can only get run over by a reindeer so many times before she makes us want to scream. Right?

Whining also seems to ruffle feathers at holiday time.

Just remember: 'tis the season to be jolly, not cranky.

Heavy thunderstorms swept through the tri-state on Sunday causing flash floods and lightning strikes that injured 3 people. The three men were struck at Orchard Beach in the Bronx Sunday afternoon and were being treated at a local hospital. Meanwhile, various Labor Day weekend celebrations were interrupted, delayed and even canceled as the U.S. Open tennis tournament had to be postponed and the Electric Zoo musical festival on Randall's Island had to be prematurely shut down.
