Report: Jacoby Ellsbury ditches Red Sox for Yankees

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The New York Yankees have signed star free agent Jacoby Ellsbury, who helped the Boston Red Sox win the World Series this season, according to a source cited by the Daily News.

The Yankees and Ellsbury have reportedly agreed to a seven-year, $153 million deal. The 30-year-old outfielder now has to pass a physical. He will likely play center field, the Daily News reported.

In 2013, Ellsbury batted .298 with 53 RBI, 9 home runs, and 52 stolen bases, according to baseball-reference.com.

The Yankees have also been in talks with Shin-Soo Choo, whose agent is Scott Boras, Ellsbury's rep.

The Bombers signed catcher Brian McCann to a five-year, $85 million deal.
