Researchers To Begin New Aspirin Study

Posted: Updated:

An aspirin a day keeps the doctor away. Australian researchers believe that aspirin may prevent dementia and even stomach cancer.

Researchers made this claim during the start of the largest ever study on the benefits of the little white pill. The study will look at 15,000 people over the age of 70 and be completed in 2018.

Aspirin is already prescribed to prevent heart attacks and strokes. It cuts the risks of heart attack and stroke by at least 23 per cent, according to previous studies.

Researchers think that the drug reduces dementia risk because of its anti-clotting action that helps blood flow in the brain.
