DETROIT (WJBK) -

The Old Newsboys' Goodfellow Fund of Detroit is celebrating its 100th paper sale this year. The organization includes 300 members whose sole mission is to ensure that there is "No Kiddie without a Christmas."

Each holiday season the Detroit Goodfellows distribute holiday gift boxes to children ages four through 13 living in Detroit, Highland Park, River Rouge, Hamtramck and Harper Woods. Each child receives warm clothing, toys, books, games and candy.

Detroit Goodfellows and Detroit police officers will sell a special "Goodfellow edition" of The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press in various locations throughout Detroit today.

Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan will also be selling newspapers in front of the Guardian building beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Newspapers are sold for any donation and all money raised goes toward the Detroit Goodfellows' 2013 fundraising goal if $1.2 million to provide Goodfellow holiday gift packages to 35,000 needy Detroit area children aged 4-13. Previous sales days have typically raised over $100,000.
