36th Annual Toys for Tots a success

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

A holiday tradition made its run Sunday morning. Each year, the Chicagoland Toys for Tots Motorcycle Parade helps bring thousands of toys to children in need.

Thanks to generous donations given at the parade, the Toys for Tots program will deliver thousands of toys to children at hospitals and schools across Chicago. Young children, teenagers and adults are the recipients of the kindness of complete strangers.

The sidewalk was lined with supporters early Sunday morning at the 36th Annual Chicagoland Motorcycle Parade. According to ChicagoTFT.org, the annual event started decades ago when a group of six friends led by a Vietnam veteran jumped on their motorcycles to deliver toys to children who would otherwise go without.

The Toys for Tots parade was free for all and took place the Dan Ryan Woods. The route was about 20 miles and ended at the Devry, Lane Tech campuses.

More than 100,000 bikers have reportedly participated in the parade since it started in 1978.

It appears the subway bedbug problem we've been reporting is getting worse. Commuters already have to contend with sweltering platforms, scurrying rats and packed train cars, and now there's another transit woe: fear of bedbugs.
