CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

Bolingbrook police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide committed by a son against his mother on the day after Thanksgiving.

Authorities were called to Alicia R. Coronel's home in the 100 block of Lakeshore Drive Friday evening to investigate "suspicious circumstances," police said.

There they found Coronel, 69, and her son, Anthony E. Rataiczyk, 37, dead from gunshot wounds. The two were pronounced dead at the scene at 9:10 p.m.

Police believe Rataiczyk shot his mother, then killed himself.

Bolingbrook police Lt. Michael Rompa said Saturday police are not certain Rataiczyk had been living with his mother.

Autopsies are expected at a later date.
