SW Side businesses, residents cautioned after multiple robberies

Police issued two alerts Thursday to South and Southwest Side residents and business owners after nine burglaries were reported in the last month.

According to one alert from Area Central detectives, an unknown number of suspects broke in and stole property from businesses on South Archer Avenue:

-in the 3400 and 3500 blocks overnight Oct. 31;

-in the 2900 block during the early morning hours Nov. 21;

-in the 4000 block overnight Nov. 25;

-in the 3700 block during the early morning hours Nov. 26.

Police did not have a description of any suspects.

In a separate alert, police warned of a group of two or three suspects breaking into homes to steal electronics and cash. The burglaries happened during daytime hours:

-in the 5000 block of South Bishop Street Nov. 18;

-in the 4300 block of South Fairfield Avenue Nov. 21;

-in the 4400 block of South Princeton Avenue Nov. 22;

-in the 4400 block of South Shields Avenue Nov. 22.

The suspects were described as two or three black men or teenagers between 17 and 20 years old, standing 5-foot-6 to 6-feet tall, and weighing between 150 and 175 pounds, the alert said.
