“The Simpsons” Poke Fun At Christie’s Weight

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

It seems like Governor Chris Christie can’t seem to get out of the national spotlight and this time, Fox’s top rated animated show “The Simpsons” couldn’t help but poke fun at Christie’s weight during a recent episode.

In the episode a group of Republican vampires rig the election. The dialogue about Christie’s weight goes like this: “Without the Hispanic vote, even Texas is poised to turn blue, we must reach her and groom her before she fattens up like Christie. He thinks that GOP stands for gravy and pancakes.”

This is the second time that “The Simpsons” has poked fun at the governor. The previous episode portrayed Christie eating chicken wings and other fattening food and choking while screaming for help, “save me Obamacare.”

Matt Rooney with the blog Save Jersey chimed in on this episode. “Frankly, I don’t know what these liberals in the media are going to do once Christie is skinny. He’s dropping weigh quicker than insurance companies are dropping their insurees thanks to Obamacare and this lines gonna get old pretty quick. But of course now that 2016 is coming up and he’s looking like he might be the guy, at the end of the day they’re gonna stick with the Democratic nominee so they have to be able to take shots at him and this is all they have at the moment,” he said.

Rooney went on to confirm that in the end all media is good media. “I think they look at this as positive media. The more people out there talking about his weight and not engaging on the substance, they look at it as a victory and I think that’s how they should look at it too, when they’re going after your weight and that’s all they have to say it means you are doing something right as a Republican,” he said.

The debate continues about whether or not using Christie’s weight as the butt of jokes on the show is just plain rude, especially given that Christie could possibly end up being President of the United States in 2016.

“What bothers me about it is the one-sidedness. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Simpsons episode where they made fun of the president for being incompetent. This stuff can be funny but you’d expect a major network to take more of a balanced approach,” Rooney said.

Basil plants grow on a New Jersey farm, but the facility could be turned into a five-acre medical marijuana greenhouse with only 48 hours' notice. The hoses from the state-of-the-art Dutch hydroponic system are watering flowers now, but with a few minor adjustments could just as easily grow marijuana plants for medicinal cannabis. The only reason it's not happening now is because the company is publicly traded and subject to federal law.
