Rare automobile auction at Sotheby's

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Dozens of the most rare and expensive cars in the world are up for auction at Sotheby's in Manhattan on Thursday.

Eighteen of the 34 vehicles on the block are expected to sell for more than $1M.

A red Ferrari with the number 34 on the side is expected to fetch the highest amount of $12-$15M.

A 1933 Auburn boat tail speedster is one of less than 20 ever built.

"It was delivered to an update New York resident. It only seats two passengers. It really is something you would only enjoy on fair weather days,” said Ian Kelleher of RM Auctions.

The oldest vehicle on display is from 1913 while the newest is a 2015 Bugatti.

A 1937 Talbot-Lago T150C -SS is one of the most rare cars at the auction.

"It is a work of art with only one in the world with this body. It is one of the highlights of the sale. It is expected to sell in excess of $8M," said Kelleher.

Viewing of the vehicles in The Art of the Automobile Auction got underway at 10 a.m. with the auction kicking off at 2 p.m.

Sotheby's auction house is located on York Ave. between 71st and 72nd Streets.
