Disgruntled CTA riders express Ventra frustration with rap

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

CTA riders' frustration with the problem-plagued rollout of the new payment system has reached a new level, driving two disgruntled comedians to put Ventra on blast in a new rap.

Alan Linic and Ollie Hobson joined Pulitzer Prize-winning DNAinfo Chicago writer Mark Konkol on Good Day Chicago Thursday morning, to explain how "V.E.N.T.R.A." came to be.

The collaborators sound a little like Eminem, mixing an old beat with new lyrics. They call out CTA president Forrest Claypool, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and even the company running Ventra.

It all started with the two venting their frustrations on Twitter and eventually deciding to put it all together in a song. Konkol filled in the back story to provide more context.

Linic and Hobson say the bottom line is, the people in power need to know how big this problem really is - and need to get to fixing it.
